Les Paul was a legend, a genius, an inspiration, an innovator and one helluva nice man. I had the honor of meeting him and he was such a wonderful guy.

After David performed at this concert, BB King (he also performed there) went up to him and said “hey boy are you sure you wasn’t born in Mississippi?”

Les Paul never did get the credit for this invention. Others did it in the 60's, but to my knowledge, Les Paul was the main man who invented this, and it was called the Les Paulverizer. It was a looper. Later on people stole this idea and called it a looper but this was all Les Paul's invention. Les Paul was a genius, as well as an amazing guitar player with such a unique style of music. There is no one that ever captured his style.

Les was a great guitarist and inventor. However he had his shtick going pretty good.Black box (Les Paulverizer) was nothing more than a remote control for previously recorded parts. Looping done in 1944 was indeed groundbreaking though.

Sweet Jesus.... Brilliance at its finest. The love and respect these two have for each other. Who loves who more??? We all need to learn from them. Eddie steals the show, bows out of the spotlight and Les couldnt be more happy to have him there. I laugh and I cry out of love, admiration and respect for the beauty of them and what they have given us.

Our band Bell Tower Sniper opened for Frank at the Boardwalk in Sacramento about 12 years ago. He is the nicest guy. Troy was playing drums for him and he is so talented and humble. I read somewhere that when they originally recorded this song, Frank kept messing it up because there were to many people around so he recorded it in the bathroom. What a beautiful piece. Still listen to this song regularly.

Eddie was lucky enough as a kid to grow up next door to Les Paul. EVH was so right to honor Les the way he did, because he is right. Les paved the way for all guitar players today, and tomorrow. "See what this guy started." "EVH"

Ooh Wow thanks for posting - What a powerful short sharp blast of Van Halen guitar wizardry - In music history seems like maybe Eddie came second only to Les Paul in terms of influence on the concept of the electric guitar considering that he designed and wired his devices personally, Les basically invented the thing, and Eddie brought it into the future.
